In a pioneering move to elevate the caliber of climate forecasting in Bangladesh, Dii recently orchestrated a week-long intensive training program in the Netherlands for officials from the Department of Agricultural Extension and the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD). This hands-on training, conducted in collaboration with esteemed institutions – Weather Impact, Wageningen University, and the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute, primarily focused on the intricacies and applications of Sub-seasonal to Seasonal forecasting.
The initiative aimed to bridge knowledge gaps, foster collaboration, and facilitate the exchange of innovative forecasting techniques. Through this collaborative effort, Dii envisions equipping these officials with the latest tools and methodologies, ensuring that Bangladesh’s agricultural and meteorological sectors are primed to address the evolving challenges posed by climate variability and change. This, in turn, will empower farmers and stakeholders with more accurate and timely advisories, solidifying a resilient future for Bangladesh’s agriculture.
